I hope you enjoy these

You will see that I have a preference for black and white images. This is in part that to me they give a greater “feeling” than many colour images, although both have their place. It might also have to do with the fact that I am partly colour blind!

My two main loves are landscapes/seascapes with dramatic skies and “street” photography although many of these have been taken inside in a museum or gallery, but the principle is the same. I love the idea of using images of people looking at “art” to produce what I hope is a different piece of “art”.

What I strive for is an image that replicates what I was looking at – nothing added, nothing subtracted, although obviously I convert to black & white, crop, and alter contrast/tone, but what is in the image was there when I pressed the shutter. It follows that I am not of the school that uses Photoshop to move parts of the image around, add something that wasn’t there, etc., all in the name of creating the perfect image, although I can admire the images that are produced that way.

Current projects include volunteering at the

London Street Photography Festival, being roped in to be “the” photographer at a number of weddings (scary), looking to develop a portfolio of skyscapes, and somewhat pretentiously I am finishing a project on toilets in museums/galleries, which can gets me some strange looks!

My desires, for the future, are to be as good as Henri Cartier-Bresson and/or Helmet Newton and to afford a Leica M9. I can safely say all are unattainable!
